Axis Highlights Integrated Security and Cyber Resilience at Milipol Qatar 2026
Ahead of the Milipol Qatar event held on October 20–22, 2026, Axis Communications announced its focus on critical infrastructure security with radar, video analytics, body-worn cameras, and open platform integrations.
Ahead of the Milipol Qatar exhibition held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, from October 20–22, 2026, Axis Communications highlighted its solutions that combine various physical security components within a common architecture. The company's announcement featured AI-powered video analytics, radar, network cameras, audio systems, and body-worn cameras among the prominent technology groups.
Behind this approach lies a simple problem: in large facilities, when cameras, door control, and alarm systems operate separately, understanding the entirety of an incident can become difficult. Open platform integration, however, allows information from these systems to be evaluated within the same security workflow.
Why is resilience a priority in critical infrastructure security?
Airports, energy facilities, logistics centers, and large public areas must be protected against both unauthorized physical access and the cyber risks of network-managed security devices. Security design in these structures is not merely about deploying more cameras. It must also plan how the system will behave if a device is disabled, connectivity is lost, or unauthorized access occurs.
In its announcement, Axis emphasized topics such as signed firmware, privacy masking, device lifecycle management, and open integration. Signed firmware is one of the technical protections that can be used to verify the integrity of installed software. However, it alone does not compensate for incorrect network configuration, weak password policies, or delayed updates.
How are radar and PTZ cameras used together?
Among the examples Axis announced for the exhibition are AXIS D2123-VE Radar and compatible PTZ camera integrations. Radar can provide location data for moving targets under appropriate installation and coverage conditions; the PTZ camera helps with visual inspection of the target. The combined use of these two technologies can direct the operator's attention to the area where an incident is occurring, especially in perimeter security applications.
However, the radar-video combination does not yield the same results in every facility where it is installed. Radar coverage, obstacles, target density, camera rotation speed, and false alarm management are all part of the site design. Making performance decisions based solely on detection values in a technical brochure is not sufficient.
The role of panoramic imaging and body-worn cameras
The announcement also included the AXIS Q6300-E Panoramic Camera and AXIS W120 Body Worn Camera. Panoramic imaging is geared towards applications where wide-area awareness is crucial, while body-worn cameras focus on scenarios for field teams to record footage and transfer it to appropriate systems.
These device classes address different stages of the same problem: detecting perimeter incidents, verifying them from a central location, and documenting the processes of the response team at the scene. Therefore, in equipment selection, evidence management, retention period, access permissions, and personal data protection should be considered as much as image quality.
Building an integrated system is not automatically building a secure system
Open platforms can facilitate organizations' use of different manufacturers and device types together. On the other hand, new connections create new authorization relationships and software dependencies. Clear rules for network segmentation, API access, user roles, time synchronization, and incident log retention are required before integration.
From GüvenlikOnline's perspective, the true value of Axis's Milipol Qatar announcement lies not in individual hardware features, but in strengthening the "security by design" approach in physical security projects. Basic information regarding the relevant product families can be reviewed in the Axis brand and product catalog.
